Call for Abstracts
Papers
Authors are invited to submit abstracts for the OCEANS'09 MTS/IEEE Biloxi Conference to be held 26-29 October 2009. The theme of the OCEANS'09 Biloxi Conference is "Ocean Technology for our Future: Global and Local Challenges". In addition to accepting abstracts in the ten core OCEANS technical topics, four additional local technical topic areas in concert with the overall theme of the Conference are offered. These include Operational Oceanography, Ocean Observing Systems, Coastal Restoration, and Lessons Learned from Hurricane Katrina. The latter topic has been expanded to include lessons learned from Hurricanes Rita, Wilma, Gustav, and Ike. The entire list of technical topics and subtopics is available in the Technical Program section of the Conference website at www.oceans09mtsieeebiloxi.org.
Student Posters
Engineering and science graduate and undergraduate students of any university or college worldwide are invited to submit an appropriate abstract for consideration to be included in the Student Poster Competition. Students whose abstracts are selected for presentation in the Poster Competition can take advantage of a range of benefits. These include having the conference registration fee waived, financial support for travel, and eligibility to receive cash competition prizes. This competition aims to promote student involvement in OCEANS, provide exposure to the activities of professional societies, and give the students an opportunity to interact with professionals in the field through both the formal settings of the technical sessions and more informal activities. For further details regarding abstract formatting and submission, competition prizes and financial support visit Technical Program section of the Conference website
